young children at a connecticut elementary school. tory dunnan joins us from newtown with new information on the victims. >>reporter:27 people were killed yesterday. most of them. children just 6 and 7 years old. we can now put names and faces to those killed at sandy hook elementary school. among them, 27-year- old first grade teacher, victoria soto. her family says she died trying to protect her students. robbie parker lost his daugter emilie. >> "she always had something kind to say about anybody. she is an incredible person and i am so blessed to be her dad." >>reporter: the state medical examiner said he believes all the children killed were first graders as police continue to search for evidence in every "crack and crevice" of the school, the community is trying to figure out just how to cope. needed in the event of any school crisis. reggie kumar tells us some parents are thinking about home schooling in light of this massacre. >> reporter: some parents couldn't stop thinking about the newtown, connecticut school shooting during san francisco's holiday snow event at the civic center plaza. many people have mixed feelings about the security in place. and some were debating to send their children to class on monday. diana wattson was moved to tears thinking about the innocent lives taken way too soon. >> yes. it's sad. it is really sad. i rather my child be safe even if it do look like a prison. i want my child to come home safe than it looking like an average playground and anyone can come in. >> i feel we are sending our children to prison. it wasn't any exit. there was no way to exit out the windows or exit out the doors. the children are not safe. not in america today because of the mental issues that we are dealing with. ingly don't think it will prevent me sending my child to school. i feel it is an isolated incident. as horrible is it is, it is those that stand out.

. >> the fire breaking out about 1:00 this morning. let us turn to jackie sissell live on the scene. >> pg&e crews are live try to fix a gas line that was structured during the fire. >> you can see them duo ing the password. >> it looks to be destroyed from the fire. the fire broke out around 1:00 this morning and went to two alarms. according to one pg&e person he says the gas line had ruptured. they are waiting for pg&e to turn off the gas. once it was turned off they contain the fire to the one unit. this is good news. we are being told that at least two people were sent to a local hospital as what is being described as non life- threatening injuries. this is good news. they are also calling fire suspicious in nature. we anticipate seeing the fire investigators back out here relatively soon. a lot of activity going on here. as soon as we did new information we will tell you more. >> thank you jackie we will check with you throughout the morning. >> a man is been injured in a shooting in east oakland. >> police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound responding to reports of shooting
